A Performance Improvement Plan (PIP) is a structured approach to help an employee improve their performance. The goal of a PIP is to provide clear objectives and expectations, as well as measurable goals, that will assist the employee in improving their performance. It should also outline the consequences if the employee does not meet those goals.

In order for a PIP to be successful, both the employer and employee must work together collaboratively and the process should be documented.
