Employers must ensure that employees who need to express milk during the workday have access to a lactation room or another suitable space for their needs. 30+ states and municipalities even have specific lactation laws that must be followed.
Employees should submit a Lactation Accommodation Request in writing when they need time for lactation, indicating when they will need this time each day, and how long it will be necessary for them to do so. Today’s HR Form of the Week provides a template for such purpose.
State-specific lactation requirements, forms, and documents can be found in the state sub-folders within the Lactation and Pregnancy Accommodation folder in the Forms Library.
